Salivary Gland Surgery (Parotidectomy)
Parotidectomy is the removal of the parotid gland, the largest salivary gland. The paratoid is usually removed because of a tumor, a chronic infection, or a blocked saliva gland. Most parotid gland tumors are not cancerous.
A positive history of foreign body in the aerodigestive tract was recorded in 93.9% of cases and 69.4% of these were found to beasymptomatic on admission which is comparable to other studies.Dr. Mohan Singh has strongly advocated that all patients presenting with positive history of foreign body in the aerodigestive tract, even when the physical finding and radiological examinations is negative must be subjected to endoscopic evaluation. Phonosurgery is a microsurgery of larynx done for voice restoration in various disease conditions of vocal cords. Voice disorders due to overuse of voice as in singers and teachers can be effectively managed by this surgery. Voice disorders from paralysis of voice cords can also be treated.
